The Mini is small enough to toss in with your regular laundry or diaper laundry without affecting agitation, which makes wash day easy.

For lightly soiled mats (new items, drool, food spills, grass, dirt, and similar everyday messes), no pre-rinse is needed. Just wipe away any solid matter and add it to your regular load.

  1. Select a regular cycle in cold or warm water (do not use hot water)
  2. Use a good detergent (we recommend Tide Original)
  3. Hang to dry when possible, or tumble dry on low and remove promptly

For heavily soiled mats (urine, feces, blood, vomit), a pre-rinse before the main wash is important to prevent odor and staining. Do not let the mat sit soiled for more than 3 days.

  1. Wipe away any solid matter and rinse promptly after use
  2. Run a pre-rinse or quick/speed wash cycle in warm water with a small amount of detergent (use cold water for blood)
  3. Follow with a regular wash cycle and hang to dry, or tumble dry on low

For all washes: Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and castile or coconut-based soaps, as these reduce absorbency over time.

For oil or cream-based stains: Pretreat with a small drop of blue Dawn dish soap, hand wash, and rinse thoroughly before putting it in the machine.

Drying tip: Always make sure the mat is completely dry before folding or storing to avoid mold.

That's a great question! Unfortunately it is a little tricky to answer. If you evenly and steadily distributed water across the entire mat, we could probably give you an amount, but that's not really how most humans leak and therefore not how the mats get used. We do have this handy video to show you how our Lifesaver Mats absorb. This should give you an idea of how it works and if it will be a good fit for the mess you have in mind!
